DMAE is naturally occurring in fish, especially sardine and herring are rich in DMAE. The positive effect of DMAE on the brain function was discovered 1958-1960. Since then DMAE has been used in Europe and is considered to be a safe product. During a period of time lots of articles was made about DMAE and it´s positive effects on hyper active kids with concentration problems and kids with problems learning.
Later studies have revealed that intake of DMAE on regular basis also counteracts aging by improving the brain function, for example by maintaining the cognitive ability, vitality and movement patterns that normally deteriorate by age. DMAE is also a powerful antioxidant and it counteracts pigmentation changes in the skin that normally derive on the hands and in the face on elderly people. Some of the effects of DMAE we know comes form stimulating the body to release acetylcholine, but we also know that it has other effects that are still not totally revealed. DMAE is not addictive.
The recommended daily intake is 200-400mg per day (depending on individual response). The uptake of DMAE will be best if taken on empty stomach. The effect will be noticeable after 3-4 weeks of intake.
Side effects as headache, insomnia and muscular pain my occur if overdosed, if you experience any of these side effects the daily dose should be reduced.
Recommended intake: 2-4 tablets daily on empty stomach
Warning. Alzheimer patients can experience increased confusion and elevated blood pressure and should therefore not take DMAE. If you suffer from known mental disorder, have liver or kidney problems it is recommended that you speak with a health professional before taking DMAE.
