Zinc is required for some of the body´s systems to function. These include vitally important regulating processes in the innermost core of the cells (our genome), where zinc is required for the cells to be able to start producing the proteins necessary for life. It can be mentioned in particular that Zinc is required for it to be possible for carbon dioxide to be transported away from the body's tissues to the lungs and for carbohydrates to be broken down and converted to energy. It is known that a deficiency of zinc can result in lowered defence against infections, poorer healing of wounds, poor appetite, impaired growth in children and altered sense of taste. Studies have been carried out in which Zinc at higher doses than recommended has been used to speed up healing, counteract allergy and curtail colds.
Recommended daily intake: 1-2 tablets daily at mealtimes or as directed by a dietician
